The second edition of Summer Breeze Open Air in Brazil, which will take place on the 26th, 27th and 28th of April 2024, at the Memorial da América Latina (SP), today announces its complete line-up and features renowned bands on the music scene as headliners. heavy metal such as WITHIN TEMPTATION, HAMMERFALL, ANTHRAX, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, SEBASTIAN BACH, MR.BIG and the now revealed EPICA and one of the biggest names in world heavy metal: MERCYFUL FATE.
One of the great highlights, MERCYFUL FATE, is led by King Diamond (voice). The group is one of the most revered bands in the world and is also a reference for the emergence of several other subgenres within the metal scene, such as black metal, for example. The distinctive sound practiced by the band comes with versatile vocals, including highs and falsettos, well-crafted guitars and a theme focused on the occult, Satanism and horror stories. The title of her first album “Melissa” was the nickname of the skull that the vocalist used as part of the scenery and her performances. The band returned to the stage in June 2022, in Hannover (ALE), as part of a European tour where they debuted the song “The Jackal of Salzburg”. “Masquerade of Madness”, another of the new ones, came out as a music video and is available on streaming platforms. The current lineup features King Diamond, Hank Shermann and Mike Wead (guitars) and Matt Thompson (drums, replacing Bjarne T. Holm), as well as Pontus Egberg (bass) replacing the late Timi Hansen – bassist Becky Baldwin (Fury) and Joey Vera (bass, Armored Saint) also replaced Hansen.
The festival will also have one of the most requested bands by the public – the Dutch symphonic metal band EPICA, who recently released a live album entitled ‘Live At The AFAS Live’ recorded in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In addition to them and the other previously announced bands, DARK TRANQUILLITY, CULTURA TRES and the iconic vocalist DINO JELUSIĆ, permanent member of TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA since 2016, will also be present.
